How to Elevate Your Sewing Skills from Amateur to Sewing Bee Level

I catch the Sewing Bee every time it's on and find myself wishing I could do that. Don't get me wrong—I can sew cushion covers and bags. But I'm my own worst critic; I always look at the finished project and think I could do better.

Over the last few months I have made upteen bags;

  • shoulder bags,

  • handbags,

  • back packs

  • changing bags,

  • bum/fanny bags

I've got bags all over the place because every time I want to try out a new style, I end up making another one. A few years back, I made a waistcoat for a show I was part of, but I haven't tackled anything that ambitious since then.

I think I've got most crafts down, and knitting, crochet, and macrame are a breeze for me. But I just started working on a cable waistcoat, and now I'm at the tricky part where I need to focus on decreasing for the armhole while keeping the pattern consistent. I'll figure it out, but it's definitely making me use my brain!
